EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Brian J. Peters, MBA
Brian holds a BS in Business Administration/Systems Analysis from Taylor University, and a MBA from Butler University. He has served the health care field for more than 30 years. His experience and accomplishments make him an expert in health care operations and technology, as well as home care software development and implementation. His many contributions to the field include the use of technology to optimize workflow processes and clinical operations, and improvements in both technology interoperability and clinical efficiency in care delivery.
Brian is passionate about health care, especially increasing quality and making a real difference in the lives of patients and their families. His patient-centered vision is utilizing automation, communication, and collaboration to improve health outcomes and reduce stress in the patient experience.
Brian is married to Jennifer, and they have three children: Brielle (Noah), Linnea (Jordan), and Bryce (Olivia), along with five grandchildren.
In his free time, Brian enjoys golfing and being connected to College football, He also loves to fix things around his home.

CLINIC DIRECTOR
Jana Swanson, MSN, ANP
Jana is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the IU School of Nursing at IUPUI in 1993. She is currently employed full-time with Ascension St. Vincent Medical Group and has been the Clinic Director of HOPE Family Care Center since 2014. Prior to stepping into this leadership role, Jana served as a Board Member of HOPE Family Care Center, contributing to the clinic's mission and growth.
Jana has over three years of experience working in the Emergency Room at St. Vincent’s 86th Street, where she gained valuable experience handling urgent and complex medical cases. Since then, she has developed extensive expertise in primary care, enabling her to provide long-term, comprehensive health management to her patients.
Jana is passionate about patient care and believes in taking a holistic approach to health. She strives to help patients not only improve their immediate health but also achieve better long-term wellness with every visit. Her dedication to compassionate care and her leadership at HOPE Family Care Center have made her a trusted and respected figure in the community.

PRESIDENT
Mike Jenkins, BA, MA
Teacher/Coach (Ret.) – HHHS
Founder - HOPE Family Care Center
Elder Emeritus – Cicero Christian Church
Mike holds degrees from Huntington College and Indiana University. He was both a teacher and a coach (football, basketball, and baseball) at Hamilton Heights High School until his retirement. Mike was Elder and Youth Minister at Cicero Christian Church for many years, and he has been a member and officer of numerous local non-profit Boards. Mike helped start HOPE Family Care Center and has been active on its Board since its beginning in 2003.

Jeffrey Shively, BA, MA
Automotive Writer & Editor
A writer and avid car enthusiast who owns a number of classic autos, Jeff is also a Board member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Museum and Research Center. Jeff Shively is the editor of two nationally recognized automotive publications. Before this, Mr. Shively spent nearly a decade in the museum industry and taught at the post-secondary level.

Abbey Ward, BS, CCMA
Patient Coordinator II - Corvel Corporation-CareIQ
Abbey has 30+ years of medical experience in Internal Medicine and Family Practice. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and holds a license as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Since 2021, Abbey has been with Corvel Corporation working with injured workers as a liaison between insurance companies and physical therapy facilities for worker's compensation. She has served and held positions on various boards in Cicero over the years, and she has been volunteering at the HOPE since January 2018. Abbey feels it is important to take care of the hungry, mentally ill, and under-insured especially within our local communities which HOPE is dedicated to as well. She and her family live on a small hobby farm of Tunis sheep outside of Cicero.
TREASURER
Lacy McGrew, BA, MBA, CPA
Founder/Owner – Calculate Success Bookkeeping and CFO Advisory Services
Lacy has been a CPA for 20+ years, primarily in corporate accounting with large corporations. She holds an MBA from Ball State University and has worked with Ascension Health and Acacia Pharma. Lacy has also worked for, and served on the Boards of, several area non-profits. She is both QuickBooks Pro Advanced Certified, and Payroll Certified.

Peyton Townes, BA, MHA
Senior Consultant – National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC);
Health Center Administrator/Program Developer (Ret.)
A long-time advocate of improved access to health care for underserved populations, Pete worked for both the HealthNet Community Health Center network and the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA). He also co-founded and managed Ambulatory Innovations, a national consulting and resources provider for primary care providers.

Katie Koch, BSc, FCAS, MAAA
Consulting Actuary – Lewis & Ellis, Inc.
Katie is a credentialed actuary with 20+ years’ experience in quantitative risk management. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Actuarial Science from Ohio State University. Her expertise includes property/liability risk, insurance, and financial reporting. Katie joined the Hope Board in 2022 because she believes in the mission of helping the uninsured and underinsured in receiving essential healthcare services and giving back to her local community. Katie enjoys biking on the Monon Trail and spending time with her family. Her family lives on a small hobby farm in Sheridan.

Heather Hickok, Registered Nurse
Registered Nurse & Case Manager – Franciscan Carmel Orthopedic Hospital
Heather is a Registered Nurse with 25 years of experience in Pre-Anesthesia Testing, Pre-op, Post Anesthesia Care, Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, IV Therapy, Radiology, and Pediatrics, with a focus on holistic care for patients and families. She has served as a Clinical Surgical Navigator, specializing in Total Knee and Hip replacements, leading daily multi-disciplinary meetings and teaching pre-operative joint replacement classes. Since 2021, she has been a Case Manager at Franciscan Carmel Orthopedic Hospital, coordinating home physical therapy and ensuring safe recoveries for patients undergoing Spine, Shoulder, and Total Joint Replacements. Her education includes a Bachelor's in Health Science, Licensed Practical Nurse certification, and ASN and BSN degrees in Nursing.
